The City of Manila continues its advocacy of making a mother-baby friendly Philippines by conducting a series of milk-letting activities. For the month of January, the Division of Maternal and Child Health of the Manila Health Department (MHD) held the said activity in the health centers of Bacood, F. Legarda, Pamana, Esperanza, and Ma. Clara. This February, MHD continued the event in Paltoc, Lacson, Luzviminda, Bagong Barangay, San Diego, and Earnshaw.

A total of 193 mothers voluntarily participated and donated breastmilk. The MHD staff have already collected a total of 13 liters of breastmilk. This will allow the MHD to contribute to and augment the breastmilk needed by newborns and infants of Philippine General Hospital and Justice Jose Abad Santos General Hospital.

World Vision Development Foundation’s Mother-Baby Friendly Philippines project team supported the event and distributed baby carriers to the participating moms.

The next milk letting activities in Manila are scheduled on the following dates:

February 22, 2018 - San Miguel Health Center

          February 23, 2018 - I. Mendoza Health Center

          February 28, 2018 - Calabash Health Center
